SICK 56 - Gig Review - Royal Oak Poulton
By Pogo Til I Die - RoyH submitted

"I´d been looking forward to this one, not just because The Vibrators were on the bill, but it would also be the night when the curtain would come up on months of hard graft in the SICK56 camp. For the uniformed SICK56 are from the Fylde Coast and although the guys in the band have been kicking around in the punk scene for years SICK56 is most definately a brand new adventure. A warm up gig took place at The Tache in Blackpool the previous week but you could say this was the debut. A well promoted gig at the Poulton venue and by the time SICK56 hit the stage it had filled up nicely. For a Tuesday night it was a great turnout and time for all to see a brand new heart and soul for British Street Punk. Their set had all the tracks off the forthcoming debut album "Recipe For Disaster", all are SICK56 compositions. Like the album everything´s on from the word go and no let up. ukNige vocals and driving rhythm guitar fronts the band brilliantly. SICK56 seem rightly confident of their new product. Craig Halliday (lead guitar) and Boothy (drums) add a wealth of experience to the band. Craig a founder member of One Way System and Boothy once of the Pink Torpedoes. The experience those guys have will definately help young bass guitarist Tom along, not many kids get the chance to play in a punk rock band this good. The songs are delivered at hell fire pace although there´s variation on the theme. I already had my favorites before tonight, "For The Nation", "Recipe For Disaster", "What´s Wrong With The Truth" and "Fall From Grace". After tonight add on "It´s Your Call", "No Accident" and "Out For The Night". The audience gave SICK56 well deserved applause, not many here tonight could believe this was there first gig" - RoyH
